Lib Dem Councillors and candidates joined the Friends of Bat and Ball on Saturday to start tidying up the station.
I had an enjoyable morning yesterday helping to clear weeds and rubbish at Bat & Ball station. The morning was organised by Adrian Cheeseman of Sevenoaks Living Landscapes – who will plant wildlife friendly lavender and other plants around the station entrance.
We were also joined by Merilyn Canet and Tony Clayton - who are council representatives on Sevenoaks Rail Travellers Association - and Cathy Baker, retiring councillor.
These were the only candidates who turned up to help, but about 30 passengers who came through the station welcomed the improvements under way and encouraged the diggers.
The ticket machines at Bat & Ball were out of action once again on Saturday. Tony Clayton has written to the rail companies to ask them to ensure that passengers who can’t buy a ticket are not threatened as fare dodgers – and to fix the machines.
